It\u2019s not just a New Year&#8217;s Resolution. It\u2019s a <em>life resolution<\/em>. Make the commitment today to embody your stronger self, your get-out-and-do-stuff self, and your I-can-totally-do-this self. by getting active \u2013 Be a Scolio-Mover and Doer, not a sitter and pain-er. How do you embody your resolution? Simply make the effort, one step and one workout at a time.\u00a0<strong> And here are your first two steps: <\/strong>start with our featured Scolio-Pilates exercise below, and follow this link to five tips to get your inner Scolio-Mover <em>moving!<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>1- Be Specific<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When setting a New Year&#8217;s resolution, you should break it down and answer the questions of what, why, how, when, and where. You need to be specific. For example, if you were to go on a trip, you wouldn&#8217;t just write &#8220;airport&#8221; on your map; you would write which airport you are going to. Plan your resolution as if you are planning a trip; you must think about the destination and how you will get there.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>2- No Timeframe<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>However, don\u2019t trap \u201cBe Specific\u201d in the constrict of timeframe. If you give yourself a set number of days, your focus will only be on that rather than how you achieve your goal. Would three months and a week be considered a failure?<\/p>\n<p>Define the problem and\u00a0<strong>set detailed actions<\/strong> to get it done, and focus on the action. The more specific you are, the better the chance of your succeeding.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>3- Identify Accountability Partners for Support<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Living with scoliosis is not easy, and making changes to take control of your scoliosis can be daunting. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/health.clevelandclinic.org\/new-years-resolutions\/\"><strong>Cleveland<\/strong> <strong>Journal<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> you should keep data to track your progress and where you need help. Are weekends more challenging for you? Can a friend be your accountability partner? It is not easy to do it alone; having a <strong>support system<\/strong>\u00a0will keep you accountable and consistent.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>4- Be Consistent<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When setting your resolutions and expectations, the critical factor is consistency.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s always challenging to change; we are all set in our routines, and finding a new balance is unsettling. For example, if doing a whole Scolio-Pilates class seems too daunting, start with the featured exercise daily, then work up to doing the warm-up. Give yourself <strong>achievable goals<\/strong> but be consistent!
