RKN Studio News & Big Ideas

Blog vs. Website

With Web 2.0 and the Social Networking world, what theme or design you go with is HUGE.  It is an important part of your branding.

Ron and I have been doing site design for many years and once I started the www.wheresmydamnanswer.com blog site, I learned that it really doesn’t matter which you go with.  That’s why we decided to take our existing website and convert it to a blog atmosphere.  The benefits far outweigh the negatives in our case.

The blogging platform allows us to keep up with search engine optimatization and Web 2.0 standards.  We are constantly creating new content and we can import photos, videos, music and more very easily.  We decided to have our blog function as a website and it easily passes for either depending on how we choose to customize the layout.  More and more companies are creating custom blogs and micro-blogs (such as Twitter) to keep their customers and readers in the “know”.  Having RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds also allows your customers and readers to subscribe to you.  This also provides you with an important tool that you can utilize to get visibility within other websites that like RSS feeds.

Our custom blog plans come bundled with different levels of social networking and search engine optimization integration.  Your blog will include all the SEO bells and whistles and can contain links to all of your social networking sites.

If you’re on the fence with making the decision between a blog and a website, let us know and we’ll be glad to talk it through with you to determine what is really the best bet for you.

Either way, there are a couple VERY important questions you’ll need to know the answer to:

  1. Does your website or blog layout compliment your business/personal image?
  2. When potential customers navigate between your website and social profile pages, are they experiencing the same message in terms of branding, colors, and overall content structure?

If you don’t already know the answer to both of these, let us help you figure out the answers.
